Marina Ibiza, host port of the VII APD Crossing Regatta

The VII edition of the Crossing Regatta organized by the Association for Progress in Management (APD) set sail from Mallorca to Marina Ibiza. 12 yachts up to 20 meters in length sailed for almost 50 nautical miles crossing between islands, being Tagomago the finish line. However, the lack of wind during the day caused all the teams -some before others- to start their engines before that finish line and headed towards Marina Ibiza.

The regatta fulfilled its main objective, which was to promote networking on board and on land despite the lack of competition during the voyage. This event made it possible to generate synergies and business ties during the calming of the journey and to a greater extent already on land, at Marina Ibiza, which welcomed them with dinner at Calma restaurant, right in front of Dalt Vila.

Starting at 8:00 p.m., upon arrival at Marina Ibiza, all the participants of the APD regatta were received at Calma Restaurant with a cocktail, allowing the crew members to exchange impressions about the journey with D’Alt Vila accompanying them in the background.

After a well-deserved rest, the following day the awards ceremony was held under the same stage and with a varied breakfast on Calma’s terrace. Due to the withdrawal of all the boats, they had other valuations.

Thus, the final results awarded the regatta prize to the Settebello yacht, for its resistance and being the last boat to start the engine.

Another prize went to the yacht Veritas Dolç, for having made the greatest number of sightings of marine species and demonstrating it with photos and videos. And it is that one of the premises of the regatta in its support for the environment, was to record the presence of marine animals in danger of extinction, in addition to collecting waste from the sea, and avoiding the use of single-use plastics.

Marcos Marí, CEO of Marina Ibiza and Vice President of APD Baleares, stated that “although the wind is something that we have not yet been able to fix, the important thing is to achieve this meeting, to see great professionals without a suit and outside the professional context, who are already good friends, in this edition that is being a success”.

On the other hand, Daniel Marí, Manager of Marina Ibiza, has expressed that “it is always very pleasant to meet familiar faces and other new faces in a nautical activity such as this regatta, which maintains the same enthusiasm as since its first edition, achieving every increasing participation”.

Marina Ibiza wishes to congratulate all the participants of the VII APD Crossing Regatta for the effort and enthusiasm put into this day and awaits the 2024 edition with ‘open moorings’.
