The 35th Jornadas Náuticas Pitiusas race will be setting sail on 11 October. The oldest cruiser regatta in Ibiza and Formentera — which started out as the Vuelta a Ibiza y Formentera in the 1970s with the Jabeque de Oro and the Jabeque de Plata Trophies — has since evolved into its current format that now combines racing with a social slant.
The race is a qualifier for the RANC Balearic Cup and is organised by Club Náutico Ibiza, the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, the Royal Spanish Cruiser Association, and the Balearic Sailing Federation, bolstered by the sponsorship of Marina Ibiza, Trasmapi, and Insotel, along with the collaboration of Club Náutico de San Antonio and Marina la Savina.
This thirty-fifth edition will feature yachts between ten and fifteen metres LOA from mainland Spain, the other Balearic Islands, and the rest of Europe. In total, more than thirty top-rate yachts that will be competing for three days to get their names etched on the trophy.
Around 250 sailors from Spain, Ireland, the UK, Belgium, France, Italy, Norway, Germany, and Finland, to name just a few countries, will be taking advantage of the gorgeous Ibizan climate and the great race schedule to enjoy their favourite sport.
The programme of the 35th Jornadas Náuticas Pitiusas regatta will begin on Thursday 10 October with the opening of the regatta office for the registration of participants, followed at 7.00 pm by a captains’ briefing at the Sa Calma restaurant in Marina Ibiza.
On Friday 11, trials one and two will feature a 29-mile race setting off from Ibiza around Formentera and ending at Punta Gavina (Punta Pedrera), with a checkpoint at Punta Roja. After the trials and the publication of results, the trophies for the day will be handed out at the La Bocana Bar at Puerto de la Savina Maritime Station.
On Saturday 12, trials three and four will take place between Ibiza Town and San Antonio, covering 38 miles with the island to portside, with a checkpoint at the Moscarter Lighthouse and the finishing line in San Antonio.
The trophy ceremony for the second day will be held on Sunday 13 October at 9.00 am in the sports area of Club Náutico de San Antonio.
On Sunday 13, the fifth and final trial of the Jornadas Náuticas Pitiusas will cover 19 miles around the islands of Ibiza and Formentera.
These three action-packed days will end with the prize-giving ceremony on the Sunday at 7.00 pm at Sa Calma restaurant in Marina Ibiza.
Club Náutico de Ibiza would like to thank Trasmapi, Insotel and Marina Ibiza for sponsoring the race once again and making this event possible, which is celebrating its thirty-fifth edition in 2024.
It is also grateful for the collaboration of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation, the Balearic Sailing Federation, the Royal Spanish Cruiser Association, Club Náutico de San Antonio, Marina Ibiza and Marina La Savina, Ibiza Island Council, and Ibiza Town Council, as well as for all the help of partner companies, public bodies, clubs, federations, committees, volunteers and yacht club workers for their hard work and passionate commitment in relation to sailing, which is a sport that fuses the human values of dedication, camaraderie and spirit of competition and makes a lasting impact on all its participants.
